History of our 160 year old venue

The East Quay Venue is housed within one of the Whitstable’s Oldest buildings, located directly on the end of the east quay in Whitstable harbour.

Situated on the beach itself, it is a completely unique venue and is a delightful place to hold an event, party or Wedding reception.

The building was the original base for the Seasalter and Ham Fishery Company, and like the famous Oyster Stores, was situated on the sea-front so that the oyster companies could keep a watchful eye over their precious oyster beds.

At one time this was a very busy maritime area. Apart from being ideally located to the hustle-and-bustle of the adjacent harbour, it was also conveniently located close to many Cockle and Whelk stores and the famous Whitstable to Canterbury Railway line (also known as the Crab and Winkle Line).

Over hundreds of years a great deal has happened within these walls. Now it could be your chance to make a little bit of history of your own.
